INDONESIA SIPF AND SIPC SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION AND CROSSBORDER COOPERATION

JAKARTA & WASHINGTON, D.C., November 2, 2026 – PT Penyelenggara Program Perlindungan Investor Efek Indonesia (Indonesia SIPF) and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) have entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance communication, information exchange, and cooperation in capital market investor protection, executed on Friday, October 30, 2026.

This MOU serves as a framework for cross-border communication and cooperation regarding the execution of similar investor protection functions carried out by both institutions. This includes cooperation in addressing the failure of securities firms (broker-dealers) operating across jurisdictions and facilitating timely compensation payments to eligible investors, in accordance with the applicable laws in each respective country.

The MOU was signed by the President Director of Indonesia SIPF, Gusrinaldi Akhyar, and the President & CEO of SIPC, Michael L. Post. The signing was followed by a virtual Investor Protection Sharing Session to discuss recent developments in investor protection in both countries.

Gusrinaldi stated, “Indonesia SIPF and SIPC share a mutual commitment to strengthening investor protection in the capital markets. Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to enhance investor protection through closer coordination. As capital markets become increasingly interconnected, this cooperation is expected to benefit both institutions in fulfilling their respective mandates within their jurisdictions.”

SIPC President Michael Post said, "SIPC and Indonesia SIPF acknowledge the importance of investor protection in each country if a member brokerage firm becomes insolvent, and the value of cooperation for the improvement of both investor protection schemes. With securities markets becoming increasingly intertwined, both organizations will derive substantial benefit from improved communication and greater cooperation in their efforts to protect investors.”

Strengthening institutional relationships with international investor protection organizations is part of Indonesia SIPF’s strategic efforts to expand collaboration and exchange perspectives on the development of investor protection frameworks. These efforts align with Indonesia SIPF’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen its legal foundation and broaden the scope of investor protection.
