Indonesia SIPF (Securities Investor Protection Fund) in collaboration with The Indonesia Capital Market Institute (TICMI) has held the International Class 2022 at the Singapore Exchange (SGX), Singapore on November 2, 2022. as well as a series of activities in Investor Protection Month (IPM) 2022, where the winners of competitions held in IPM 2022 have the opportunity to take part in the 2022 International Class.

This year's International Class has the theme “Comparative Study of Investor Protection for the Indonesian and Singapore Capital Markets. Although the Indonesian Capital Market has quite good regulations in terms of investor protection, references from other countries' capital markets are still needed to support the development of the Capital Market industry in Indonesia which continues to grow and move dynamically.

Indonesia SIPF as the Operator of the Investor Protection Fund (PDPP) and PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) with various protection mechanisms as resource persons representing the Indonesian Capital Market. Meanwhile, the resource person who represents the Singapore Capital Market is the Securities Investors Association Singapore (SIAS), an association-shaped institution that aims to provide education for investors in Singapore and facilitate investors' problems with listed companies.

Meanwhile, participants in the International Class 2022 consist of various backgrounds, ranging from professionals in the capital market such as employees of the PT Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI), PT Pendanaan Efek Indonesia (PEI), PT IDX Information Technology Solutions. , to academics from the University of Indonesia (UI). In addition, there were also participants from the Winners of the Article Writing Competition, Tiktok Challenges, and KSEI ACCESS Login Workshop at the IPM 2022 event, including representatives of PT Phintraco Sekuritas, PT MNC Sekuritas, Investment Gallery (GI) BEI University of Mataram, GI BEI University Muhammadiyah Makassar, and GI BEI FISIP Halu Oleo University.

At the first session of the seminar, Mr. Narotama Aryanto as the President Director of Indonesia SIPF had the opportunity to deliver material related to the role and function of Indonesia SIPF in the Indonesian Capital Market in accordance with the current regulations, namely the Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) Number 49/POJK.04/2016 concerning Investor Protection Fund and POJK Number 50/POJK.04/2016 concerning the Operator of the Investor Protection Fund (PDPP). Mr. Narotama said that there is still much room for improvement for Indonesia SIPF to be able to provide optimal protection for capital market investors, one of which is the DPP value which as of September 2022 was collected at Rp259.74 billion. This value is expected to continue to grow so that it can also increase the maximum limit for compensation to investors which is currently IDR 200 million per investor or IDR 100 billion per event in the Custodian.

Then in the second session, the KSEI material was continued by Ms. Dian Kurniasarie, as the Head of KSEI's Research and Business Development Division. Some of the main points of discussion conveyed by Mrs. Dian were related to the profile of KSEI, the role and function of KSEI in the Indonesian Capital Market, and protection mechanisms for investors developed by KSEI, such as separation of investor accounts through Customer Fund Accounts (RDN), Provision of SID ( Single Investor Identification) or Identity Number for Investors, AKSES Service (Security Ownership Reference) that can be used by investors to monitor their portfolios, EASY Service (E-Proxy) which can facilitate investors to be able to attend the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) online, up to development of the C-BEST system that allows to improve the performance of the settlement instruction process from 20,000 per minute to 150,000 per minute. To optimize the utilization of these various mechanisms, KSEI also routinely conducts literacy and education activities for capital market players.

The last session of International Class 2022 was closed by the presentation of Mr. David Gerald as Founder, President, and CEO of SIAS related to SIAS's role in the capital market industry in Singapore. SIAS has the SIAS tagline: Silly Investor Always Suffer, but Smart Investor Always Succeed. This means that to become an investor requires a good understanding and education about how to invest. Therefore, SIAS massively conducts various kinds of education to investors in Singapore. SIAS has conducted 150 educational activities involving around 31,000 participants. In addition to education, SIAS's role for investors in Singapore includes protecting investors' rights, facilitating the resolution of issues or issues between investors and the management of listed companies, and actively promoting corporate governance and transparency of listed companies. Then Mr. David also added that unlike Indonesia SIPF which has a DPP to provide compensation for the loss of investors' assets, SIAS does not have funds like the DPP.
